For the second time, a shootout was reported in the area of the José Castillo Tielemans public market. The first one occurred on Saturday afternoon at the Mercadito No. 2. After firing shots, the perpetrators fled the scene. Later on Saturday, around 9 PM, several gunshots were heard again in the same market, causing people walking nearby to run to avoid being hit by a bullet.

After 9 PM, several gunshots of different calibers were heard in the area of the José Castillo Tielemans public market, located in the northern area of San Cristobal de las Casas. Some public transport drivers ran towards their units to leave the area, while some taco vendors hid under their tables to avoid being hit by a bullet. In the darkness of the night, gunshots could still be heard in the northern part of the city. Despite this, no incidents have been reported so far.

Nearby businesses were immediately closed due to fears of possible looting. At the moment, the surrounding streets of the market remain silent. It is known that the army, the national guard, and state and municipal police are preparing to enter the area, while the perpetrators of the gunshots have already left the scene.
