If you want to enjoy traditional Mexican food, but also get nutrients, avoid dishes with a high content of saturated fats and refined sugars, and opt for those that have fresh vegetables and lean proteins.

An example: If you crave a “Garnacha or sope“, order a quesadilla or roasted (not fried) tlacoyo accompanied with nopales, fresh cheese, and the sauce of your choice.

Other healthy Mexican foods are guacamole, nopales salad, chiles en nogada, tlalpeño broth, and shrimp with garlic mojo. All of these dishes are rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals and fiber . Plus, they are tasty and most of them are very easy to prepare.

We will tell you a little more about the benefits of guacamole.

Guacamole has a higher amount of potassium than bananas.

Guacamole is an avocado-based dip or spread that originated in Mexico . It’s typically made with mashed avocado and lime juice, then seasoned with salt and cilantro. Guacamole often contains tomatoes and onions.

Guacamole is a pre-Hispanic preparation . In fact, the name we know it by today comes from Nahuatl; from the words ahuacatl (avocado) and molli (mole). Guacamole is one of the most consumed Mexican food preparations in the world.

In addition to being one of the products that we export the most to the world, avocado—its main ingredient—is rich in vitamins A, C, and E, thiamine (vitamin B1), calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc. In addition to having the property of eliminating “bad” cholesterol, guacamole is a good appetizer or garnish for any meal.
