The romanticism that prevails in San Miguel de Allende is due to its people, who have positioned the city in the international wedding industry.

In recent years, the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, led by Juan José Álvarez Brunel, has worked in alliances with all San Miguel suppliers to strengthen the sector with training and professionalization and place the World Heritage City in the best wedding destination.

The activity of Romance Tourism has taken on great relevance worldwide and in San Miguel de Allende the work of those who started in this segment is recognized and praised.

In this sense, maestro Álvarez Brunel celebrated, together with Guadalupe Álvarez, wedding planner at Penzi Bodas, the pioneers of weddings in this destination, thanking them for their work and commitment in this segment.

The pioneers in weddings are Guadalupe Ramírez, from San Miguel who has been doing banquets since the 80s; Carmen Salmerón, the first woman to have a wedding in San Miguel de Allende; Hermes Arroyo, creator of the Mojigangas – a great tradition in San Miguel de Allende -; Kris Rudolph, began catering for the first weddings at SMA; Cc Stark and Mario Osornio, creators of the Callejoneadas; Linda Walkovich, first Official Planner of San Miguel; and the Casa de Sierra Nevada Hotel, which was the first venue to hold a wedding.

“In Guanajuato, we recognize your vision and dedication, you have been excellent hosts and have made couples, family, and friends live great stories. The work of unity and commitment for this segment is strengthened with the formation of alliances. Today, we celebrate that Guanajuato is a benchmark in this segment, more and more couples are traveling to the destination to get married and share their love in magnificent settings of the State,” applauded the Secretary of Tourism.

Couples choose to get married in San Miguel de Allende for the warmth of the service, the hospitality, for its majestic venues, but also the climate, nature, culture, gastronomy, and folklore of the city. Furthermore, the destination has the best local suppliers, who deliver with great enthusiasm and professionalism and create unforgettable and unique experiences.

Guadalupe Álvarez applauded the pioneers for their vision and creativity, for being people who love destiny, and because they were brave in starting this activity that improves the lives of the people of San Miguel.

“You saw a way to make our San Miguel de Allende such an important city in the wedding industry. You inspire me to do things better. Thank you for being kind-hearted people who want visitors to come and have the best time,” concluded Guadalupe Álvarez.
