At least four taxi drivers attacked the couple who allegedly refused to pay a high fare
A new event in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, generated outrage on social networks, as a video captured the exact moment in which a tourist couple was attacked by a group of taxi drivers outside one of the most emblematic clubs in Playa.
The video went viral on the night of Monday, March 4th. However, the situation would have occurred over the weekend. The images show how a couple was brutally beaten by a group of four taxi drivers.
Although the video does not capture how the problem started, some witnesses stated that the situation arose because the tourists had refused to pay a fee for the trip they took; apparently, the driver who took them to the Coco Bongo club wanted to charge them an excessively high rate.
The high price would have sparked an argument between the couple and the driver, and the situation would have taken place on the corner of Calle 12 Norte, and Av. 10 Norte in the Gonzalo Guerrero Centro neighborhood, in Playa del Carmen, where the nightclub is located.
After an argument between the cab driver and the tourists, the fight escalated to a violent attack by four taxi drivers against a man and a woman.

According to the images captured on video, a group of at least four taxi drivers from Playa del Carmen began beating up a man, who ended up on the floor, with his female companion on top, trying to protect him from the brutal attack. The footage shows how these criminals kicked the couple and hit them with something that looked like a metal folding chair.
In the video, the woman’s screams can be heard, begging them to stop hitting her partner.
So far the authorities have not expressed any position on the situation, nor is the situation of the tourists who were attacked known; However, users on networks demand that the situation be investigated.
