Mauricio Trejo Pureco, reelected mayor of San Miguel de Allende, acknowledged having indirectly offended Ana Luz Solís, director and collaborator of the news portal News San Miguel, during a ceremony celebrating his electoral victory.
The Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office of the State of Guanajuato (PRODHEG) issued a recommendation to Mauricio Trejo to make a public apology and recognize the impact of his actions.
Trejo assured that, although he did not address anyone directly, he acknowledged that journalist Ana Luz Solís felt seriously affected by her indirect comment.
Trejo, upon accepting the recommendation, stressed: “I am the father of three daughters and, with a cooler head and for personal consistency, it is worthy to accept the recommendation of the Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office of the State of Guanajuato (PRODHEG).
“I admit that I was wrong in that comment. This comment offended Ana Luz Solís. Therefore, I apologize publicly and sincerely to her and I commit that these acts will not be repeated,” declared Mauricio Trejo Pureco.
The mayor stressed his commitment to not generate provocative acts of violence or that harm third parties, highlighting the importance of guaranteeing the safety of all women and freedom of expression and the press.
Finally, Trejo expressed his confidence in the call for a “new beginning” by the elected governor, Libya Dennise Muñoz Ledo, so that San Miguel de Allende continues to grow in every sense.
