Four men, a woman, and a minor were kidnapped and hours later found dead in a dirt area in the municipality of Yuriria, in Guanajuato, bordering Michoacán.
The victims would be part of the same family, although it has only been confirmed that the woman was the grandmother of the murdered 14-year-old teenager, according to a report in the newspaper AM of León.
The men, according to local reports, were young men between 20 and 35 years old.
The multiple homicides caused fear among the population of Yuriria, a municipality where the operation of members of organized crime has been recorded.
The Municipal Police, the State Public Security Forces, the National Guard, and personnel from the Guanajuato Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the scene to carry out the first investigations.
Several shell casings were found at the site, while the victims were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service as unknown.
Guanajuato ranked first in the number of homicides nationwide, registering at least 1,256 victims in the first half of the year, ahead of the State of Mexico, with 1,097; Baja California has 1,091; Chihuahua adds 879; and Nuevo León 803, according to official figures.
A report to the emergency numbers alerted about the discovery of the six bodies in San Miguel’s Colonia Deportiva, where security agents and paramedics arrived, who could only confirm the death of the victims.
