Guanajuato will soon open a new archaeological zone
In the coming months, the first stage of the Los Remedios archaeological zone in the municipality of Comonfort, Guanajuato, will be open to the public.
According to the head of the State Institute of Culture, Adriana Camarena, the area will open after years of protection and study, reported the newspaper Correo.
The state official said that this first part will open so that the public can learn more about the culture that lived there.
According to the aforementioned newspaper, it is a land of at least 20 hectares that covers three pyramidal bases.
Its rescue began two decades ago, after years of looting and destruction, while the urban sprawl invaded its archaeology.
The state government purchased the land on which work began to recover the place located on the Cerro de los Remedios to the east of the municipal seat of Comonfort.
On the other hand, the state official reported that the miniseries “Archaeological Jewels”, which seek to promote the five sites of Guanajuato, will be presented on Mexican television from July to September.
