Kenyan athletes were the winners of the 2024 Mexico City Marathon. Forming a podium, both men and women, dominated by athletes from that country.
On Sunday, August 25, the XLI edition of the Mexico City Marathon was held, one of the most important sporting events in Mexican sport; the 42 km and 195 meters that make up the route were a real party from start to finish. Kenya reigned on the women’s and men’s podium of the route that culminated in the Zócalo.
With a time of 2:10:36, Edwin Kiptoo won the men’s event. The Kenyan quickened his pace in the final stretch and left behind his compatriots, Leonard Langat and Francis Cheruiyot, who completed the podium.
Kiptoo wore the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, while second and third place wore the Adizero Adios Pro 3.

The three Kenyans reached the finish line with the support of all the people. Kiptoo finished the course and threw himself on the ground to give thanks for a new victory in this marathon after having also won this competition in the Mexican capital in 2022.
In the women’s category, Kenyan Fancy Chemutai was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 2:29:19. Her compatriots Shitaye Habte and Janet Gichumbi took the podium.
The first and second ran with Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 shoes, while Gichumbi did it with Adizero Adios Pro 3.
The starting shot of the 2024 Mexico City Marathon was given at 5:55 a.m. The last group left at 7:15 a.m. from the Olympic University Stadium area.
Fernando Sánchez was the first runner to cross the finish line of this XLI edition with a time of 1:29 in the special wheelchair category. Gonzalo Valdovinos and Marco Antonio Caballero completed the podium.
With the participation of 30 thousand runners, the event was a success. One by one they crossed the finish line amid tears, shouts, and applause.
There were 20 Adidas ambassadors, eight of them in the elite category. Every year, this group of athletes from the German brand set themselves the goal of competing in the marathon in less than three hours.
