Three people who are members of a criminal group were arrested in the operations.
The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection reported that a thousand doses of fentanyl and other narcotics were seized in three operations carried out in Mexico City coordinated by the Mexican Army and the Attorney General’s Office.
“In Mexico City, elements of the Mexican Army, National Guard, Attorney General’s Office and Secretariat of Citizen Security, arrested three people who are members of a criminal group, and seized 5,500 doses of drugs,” details the federal Security report corresponding to the actions carried out on January 6.
The municipalities of the Mexican capital where the doses of fentanyl were seized are: Tlalpan, Cuauhtémoc, and Álvaro Obregón, in addition, 4,000 doses of methamphetamine and 500 doses of cocaine were seized.
President Claudia Sheinbaum believes that fentanyl use is not yet a problem in Mexico like it is in the United States or Canada, so it is necessary to start this type of campaign to encourage prevention of use.
