GUANAJUATO, Gto – On Tuesday May 9th, the Guanajuato’s Electoral Institute (Instituto Electoral del Estado de Guanajuato), along with the State’s Electoral Court (Tribunal Electoral del Estado de Guanajuato), and State’s Institute for Women (Instituto para las Mujeres Guanajuatenses), signed an agreement to create and operate the State’s Observatory for the Women Political Participation (Observatorio de Participación Política de las Mujeres).

On the morning of Tuesday May 9th, the General Council of the Guanajuato’s Electoral Institute approved the project presented at the extraordinary session, which establishes the purpose of this observatory that is to serve as a space for the dissemination of information on women’s political rights at state and municipal levels.

The agreement also indicates that it is really important to strengthen the Institute’s commitment to promote the political participation of women in the different government levels, as well as the definition of strategies to eliminate inequalities and to achieve substantial equality between men and women in the state of Guanajuato.

Through the website of the State’s Observatory of Women Political Participation, the achievements can be monitored by all people. An operating document, which specifies the actions, scheduling, obligations, financing, work plan and operation, can be consulted on that web portal.
