Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, president-elect of Mexico, commemorated the 69th anniversary of Mexican women’s right to vote on social media.
It should be remembered that on July 3, 1955, women in Mexico participated for the first time in a federal election, and went to the polls to exercise their rights and elect federal deputies.
“On July 3, 1955, Mexican women exercised our right to vote for the first time in history,” Claudia Sheinbaum wrote on social media, where she shared an infographic in which she mentions Emélida Carrillo, Cuca García, Raquel Dzib, Elvia Carrillo Puerto and Hermila Galindo, women who fought for the right of all.
“Many women fought to make that right a reality. In 2024, we will reach the Presidency for the first time. I say this in the plural because it’s not just me who is here, we all are here. We will always work for substantive equality and women’s rights,” said Dr. Sheinbaum.
