According to Mexico City based newspaper Excélsior, on Thursday December 16th, 2016, the Congress of Guanajuato made an energetic exhortation to local councillor, Julio César García Sánchez, affiliated to the PRD political party, in order to remove him of his charge, after it was made public that the man beat up his ex-girlfriend.

In fact, with 30 votes in favor and six against, Guanajuato’s Congress authorized to officially remove García Sánchez from public office.

Due to the fact that the vote is secret, it is not possible to know which deputies voted in favor or against García Sánchez removal.

Garcia Sánchez was under investigation since March, and now that he is facing this crime, he is being definitely removed of his post.

He will be substituted by José Luis Suárez Araujo, better known as “Rubí”, first transgender person to hold a position of popular election in the country.
