QUERÉTARO – According to “La Silla Rota”, recently the government of Querétaro made a request to the Committee of the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (Comité de la Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis, CAMe), in order to integrate Querétaro as a Megalopolis of México in the upcoming months.

The Governor of Querétaro, Francisco Domínguez Servién, signed an agreement with Miguel Ángel Mancera, head of Mexico City’s government, to turn Querétaro into a “CAMe”.

The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis today is integrated by five states: Mexico City, Hidalgo, Mexico State, Puebla and Tlaxcala.

The government of Querétaro maintains agreements with México City that allows the unrestricted circulation of cars with zero and double zero decal.

In the state, there are 100 thousand vehicles registered with zero and double zero decals, which represent 18 percent of the vehicle pattern of Querétaro, and the integration of Querétaro into the Megalopolis represents that they merge procedures, technology and protocols to maintain and control the air quality in both places.

The head of Querétaro’s Sustainable Development Secretariat (Sedesu), Marco Antonio del Prete Tercero declared that: “This integration depends on the authorization made by the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), Rafael Pacchiano Alamán.

“CAMe is a government office and aims to authorize the entry of the states of this program, so we will meet with its members soon, to receive the approval from the Secretary of Semarnat, Rafael Pacchiano Alamán, since it is very important.”
