Jorge Humberto Pérez Casarez, alleged financial operator of the Sinaloa Cartel who was arrested on Saturday May 22, was visiting San Miguel de Allende as a tourist, according to the Mayor, Ricado Villarreal Garcia.
The criminal group’s financial mastermind was in a renowned hotel before being captured.
Ricardo Villarreal, mayor, said that the operation conducted last Saturday for the narco’s capture was very discreet and lasted approximately 7 minutes, involving federal authorities.
The mayor added that Perez Casarez did not have any business or residence in San Miguel de Allende, and his stay in the city was merely as a tourist.
City officials were unaware of the capture of the drug lord and were warned by agents of the Federal Government after the arrest.
