More than three decades ago his name and his body belonged to Saul a Sanmiguelense boy who loved singing; 30 years later they belong to an opera singer in Bangkok that had to come off convinced she was in the wrong body.

Today she is recognized as Morganna, a transgender woman that became a soprano countertenor. She speaks three languages and interprets opera in two others. Her studies at the National Conservatory of Music led her to participate in events where her voice was so beautiful that she won several competitions in the name of Mexico.

She gave a presentation last month at Teatro Angela Peralta along with the Gabriel Hernandez Cuban Orchestra.

Todays she says she is free of bonds and returned to San Miguel de Allende transformed into a different woman, shinning on stage, performing before the whole world and defending her transgender status in such a way, that the United Nations (UN) named her Ambassador for the Free & Equal Human Rights Program.

Her tall figure, thin hands, good taste to dress and flirty body movements make it difficult to think that someday she was “a he”.

She always says that she was “born again” one day on the year 2012, when that sex change operation in Bangkok was performed on her, she never felt more free. She is the clear example that if you want something, you can g it.

A movie about her transition was released at last years Guanajuato International Film Festival, you can check out more about the movie and all of her other projects here.
