Guanajuato’s Ministry of Tourism reported that from Monday, July 11 to Sunday, August 21, 2016, during the Summer Holidays, the influx of visitors recorded an increase of 15% compared to the same period last year.
A total of 2 million 87 thousand people visited the city of Guanajuato, leaving an economic impact of almost 6 billion pesos (315.7 million USD), 18% above the estimated economic impact that the State Ministry of Tourism expected for this year.
In terms of hotel occupancy:
- 55% the 875 742 rooms available were occupied
- A total of 7% more than summer last year
- Per tourist-night, accounts to at least 908, 668 people, resulting in an increase of 15%.
At a state level, an increase of 17% in arrivals was recorded, in comparison with the summer holidays of 2015. The most visited cities were Guanajuato, León, San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, Dolores Hidalgo, Irapuato and Salamanca.
