SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Gto.- During the magical night of Thursday, December 9th, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony took place in San Miguel de Allende, with the participation of the San Miguel Choirs Network (Red de Coros de San Miguel); and a fantastic light and sound show was held at the Main Garden.
This was the official kick off of the Christmas holidays in one of the most touristic cities throughout Mexico.
This year, the traditional event gathered more than 3 thousand local and foreign people.
The esplanade of the San Miguel Arcángel’s Parish was the stage for the placement of the Christmas tree.
The event was attended by Mayor Ricardo Villarreal, accompanied by Emilia Vega, President of the municipal DIF; Deputy Juan José Álvarez, as well as directors and members of the City Council.
It was reported that all the pieces of the tree were made by more than 20 craftsmen from San Miguel.
“The main square is the best place for all inhabitants to enjoy this holiday season,” said the mayor.
The Christmas tree is adorned with a frost of dry nature elaborated by Mrs. Chuy and her family members; the main star was made by Mauricio Téllez, while the other glass stars, were made by Rogelio Luna, Sergio González and Ernesto Yáñez, the pigeons and hearts were manufactured by BUSART10, and the Museum of the Toy of San Miguel also made a contribution for the Christmas Tree.
