LEÓN, Gto. – Although the sale of new and used homes decreased in Guanajuato and throughout the country last year, the sale of “residential plus” type houses with a value higher than $3 million pesos (136 thousand USD) increased a 37.7% in the state of Guanajuato. This was revealed by the Real Estate Monitoring conducted by Reality World, based on data from Mexico’s National Banking and Insurance Commission (Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Seguros).
According to the study, Guanajuato was ranked seventh nationwide on the list of states with the highest growth in this segment, going from 122 luxury homes sold between January and October 2015, to 168 in 2016, showing a figure five times higher than the national average (+ 7.42%).
In fact, the sale of “residential plus homes” registered a substantial growth compared to previous years, since it only grew 8.8% during the January-October 2014 period, but in the same period of 2015 the increase was up to 27.4%, according to Reality World.
It is worth mentioning that 12 states recorded decreasing trends in this category during 2016.
In that sense, Guanajuato also had a tendency to increase in the segment of homes with a value greater than 1.5 million pesos (68 thousand USD), selling more than 808 houses in the first 10 months of 2016, compared to the 678 houses at the end of 2015 (a 19.2% growth, higher than the national average of 5.25%).
