Once again, SMA comes up first in a survey conducted by a world renown travel publication.
Conde Nast’s magazine’s annual Readers’ Choice Award surveyed “hundreds of thousands” of people and asked readers to highlight where they feel most welcome around the world.
“Did an outgoing local show you the way? Was the city easy to navigate?,” the survey asked.
After making its debut appearance in 2017’s survey, San Miguel de Allende maintained its no. 1 spot this year.
Readers had plenty of great things to say about the dynamic Mexican Colonial town: “Friendly people, great shopping, fantastic collection of great restaurants, and excellent opportunities for exploring on foot.
” Thanks to a vibrant ex-pat community (with its own classical music society) that mixes with residents and Mexican families on holiday, anyone can feel at home “walking down those stone streets,” says one reader. Its storybook-like setting—complete with colorful facades and jacaranda blossoms—doesn’t hurt, either.
OK, so San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico took the top spot in this year’s survey, but Ireland had the strongest showing with three spots in the top ten. The other friendliest cities in the world are: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Queenstown, New Zealand; Puebla, Mexico; Adelaide, Australia; Victoria, B.C., Canada; and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Cork, Galway and Dublin took the second, third and fourth positions, as Ireland shows a strong positioning in the Tourism Industry like never before.
