San Miguel de Allende.- A group of citizens from San Miguel formed a civil association to help in the economic recovery, with four strategies: a market for local merchants, makeup classes to take advantage of weddings, a boxing club, and gardening training.

The new association is called Moviendo a San Miguel AC; Lisete Cano, one of the members explained that citizen participation is essential to take care of ourselves in economic and social issues.

“Faced with the problems of the pandemic, the solutions have been few. We have major problems and very few solutions. What we seek is to work together, as citizens, to be able to move San Miguel, ” said Lisete Cano.

She explained that they seek stability during the current crises and for that purpose they plan to install a market in the Obraje area with free spaces so that people who were left without work can take advantage of the space, starting the second week of November.

For this, the merchants must be local and the capacity is for 30 businesses that have to do with seeds, bread, handicrafts, food.

Another program is the ‘Gardeners on the Move’, for which people will be trained for this activity “because there are many hotels and homes that require this service in a professional way.”

She indicated that the Rey del Barrio program seeks to focus on young people by promoting the sport of boxing with free classes. This is a way to give young people freedom so that they can develop abilities on their own, by avoiding bad company and bad habits, in order to live a healthy life and recover social cohesion.

And finally, the makeup workshop seeks to take advantage of the events that need professional makeup artists and prevent them from hiring foreign people. This new group is already confirmed and will start working in November.
