Be part of the Rotaract SMA campaign and donate your hair to support women and girls with cancer, “for us it is hair, for them hope”

San Miguel de Allende.- The ‘Rotaract SMA’ club brings back the hair donation campaign to support women and girls with cancer. It is necessary to schedule an appointment and the minimum hair to donate is 25 centimeters.

Rotaract is a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable groups in the community. Rotary is an organization that has clubs around the world where its main objective is social work.

‘Threads of hope’ is the name of the project that uses the phrase “for us it is hair, for it hope”.

The Rotaract Club of San Miguel de Allende, in conjunction with the Monterrey del Valle Club, since 2021 replicated the hair braid donation project to make oncological wigs and support children with cancer.

They work with the Children’s Anti-Cancer Alliance for SMA, which over the years has worked with the Red Nose Association, which supports children with cancer nationwide and cares for children with cancer in the State of Guanajuato, Tías Pelucas and Alucca, both from the city of León.

On January 17, 2021, in the first edition in San Miguel de Allende, the goal was to collect 36 braids, but 162 were achieved. These were channeled to Nariz Roja AC and Alucca associations that care for cancer in the State of Guanajuato.

For the second edition, in January 2022, the goal was 163 hair braids, but 303 pieces were reached.
