To recognize the good performance of exceptional local students and motivate those who need to work a little more on their academic work, municipal authorities delivered some one thousand bicycles to boys and girls from fourth to ninth grade (de cuarto de primaria a tercero de secundaria), who obtained the best average of their class during the 2015-2016 school year.
The 970 bikes that were delivered, besides being an incentive for children and youngsters to improve their academic performance, will serve to encourage the use of clean and sustainable transportation, to make the city an example of mobility.
Juan Antonio Gonzalez, a student at “Manuel Avila Camacho” Primary School, located in the community of Teresita de Don Diego, was the most outstanding student of all San Miguel de Allende, so on behalf of his colleagues, he expressed his thanks.
“I tell my classmates to keep moving forward with more desire, I want to tell our parents to keep on supporting us, as we are their children, and to the government I want to say thank you, and please keep on giving support to the students,” the boy said.
The ceremony was led by Mayor Ricardo Villarreal, his wife Emilia Vega, president of the Board of Municipal DIF, aldermen of the City and the federal deputy Veronica Agundis.
