“In addition to the 17 cases of sexual harassment denounced by students of the University of Guanajuato in August this year, six more have been reported recently”, said Verónica Cruz Sánchez, leader of the Las Libres group.

Three of these young women are students of the Faculty of Chemistry and three others of the Division of Health Sciences.

The six students expressed their dissatisfaction and filed a public complaint filed before the corresponding authorities of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Universidad de Guanajuato, León campus.

Verónica Cruz pointed out that the new cases will be added to the other 17 complaints to be officially presented before the Council of Honor and Justice of the University of Guanjuato.

“The teachers identified as the alleged perpetrators of sexual harassment are still teaching and nobody has done anything about this situation”, said Cruz Sánchez.

After the recommendation made by the Human Rights Ombudsman of Guanajuato, on Wednesday September 19, the University of Guanajuato installed the Advisory Council for the Care and Prevention of Gender Violence in the institution.
