“The State of Guanajuato ranks third in terms of applications for technologic inventions and fifth in emergence of new scientific and technological companies”, this was highlighted by Governor Miguel Márquez Márquez during the International Innovation Forum for Sustainable Development opening ceremony.

Guanajuato is the first state in the world, where UNESCO will make a declaration on Innovation for Sustainable Development, which was joined by the three branches of government, institutions of higher education, scientists and entrepreneurs.

After multiple efforts with diverse international organizations, the agreement was signed in collaboration with UNESCO, to celebrate the year of innovation in the state of Guanajuato.

In this regard, Nuria Sanz, representative of the offices of UNESCO in Mexico, recognized the commitment of the Guanajuato government to generate innovation, and to be concerned about people with different physical or intellectual abilities, without leaving aside the ethical commitment.

In that sense, Arturo Lara López, Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education declared: “it is very satisfactory to see how Guanajuato has grown significantly in all its economic sectors, this development provides the state a great opportunity to take a leap towards the knowledge economy with an environmentally responsible focus”.

“This is not only a forum that brings us lectures and conferences, it is an exercise of search and debate at the frontier of knowledge about the policies and strategies of innovation that are more adequate and efficient for our state’s technologic development and improvement,” said Lara López.

16 national and international speakers participated in this first forum of new technologies in Science Culture and Education.
