At the Adventure Travel Mexico (ATMEX) 2025 event, the Guanajuato delegation, led by the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Guadalupe Robles León, demonstrated that the state is an ideal destination for wilderness tourism.
Witnessing the mist drifting over the hills at dawn on a camping trip, ziplining, and exploring Guanajuato with its most stunning landscapes and skies are experiences the state showcased at the event, held from March 11 to 14 in Oaxaca.
“We seek to promote adventure tourism in different regions, involve more operators, destinations, buyers, and media outlets to strengthen this type of tourism, and foster the regeneration of nature, promote community development, preserve culture, and increase the income that remains in local communities,” said Lupita Robles.
The event was attended by more than 450 representatives of private and public organizations from Mexico and Latin America seeking to strengthen and grow adventure and nature tourism, a goal of the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (Secturi) of the State of Guanajuato.
Guanajuato’s activities in Oaxaca focused on generating business with specialized buyers, offering training on innovative topics, and analyzing the impact of tourism on mental health and community development.
The meeting for the future of adventure tourism was key for several states in the country, as it was attended by specialized national and international tour operators, media specialized in adventure tourism, representatives of destinations, and academics. Specialized buyers from the United States, Canada, South America, and some European countries.
