San Miguel de Allende / AUG. 26, 2019.- The business chambers along with the municipal government, are preparing a social movement of civil resistance against violence and crime, through a campaign that will soon be launched for the protection and wellbeing of civil society,

Business sector leaders met with municipal president, Luis Alberto Villarreal and the Secretary of Government and City Council, Gonzalo González, in order to create different strategies to combat organized crime groups. The campaign is called ‘Not Here!’ (Aqui No).

It is a joint project where society and government create a social movement of civil resistance against crime and the bad habits that are leading to social decomposition.

This campaign will be outlined as a citizen stand against violence, disorder and lack of humanitarian awareness; and it will be spread by the people of San Miguel themselves.

During the meeting, the leaders of the different business chambers, the productive sector and non-governmental associations agreed to join efforts for the well-being of the San Miguel society and to spread the message loud and clear: NOT HERE!

What is sought is to make it clear that particular and governmental actions are carried out to rebuild the social fabric and promote family values in all sectors of society within the municipality.

In the coming days the messages that this campaign will spread from the different civil society actors and with the collaboration of the municipal administration will be launched.

The San Miguel Times joins this effort, and will be spreading all the messages and releases issued as part of this important campaign that seeks to restore the peace and safety that was taken for granted in San Miguel for so many years, and that is currently being sabotaged by criminal groups that do not have the right to disturb a city that is positioned as one of the best in the world, and also as a world-class tourist destination.

We want to invite other news outlets, businesses, service providers and residents (national and foreign) to join this important initiative. The objective of this campaign is that all of us contribute with our “little grain of sand” in order to restore peace and recover our beautiful city.
